A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds (RSS) or webpage links for playback on portable media players and personal computers. Podcasts are often compared to radio shows, but podcasts are pre-recorded either professionally or home produced and distributed via the internet. A video podcast (sometimes shortened to vidcast or vodcast) is a term used for pre-recorded video content, the analogy of podcasts and video podcasts being radio versus television.
