Each year, Colleges have students who apply but do not register. Register, but do not attend. Attend the first week, and then disappear.
This one-on-one phone interview research consists of open-ended interview questions by a senior interact researcher. The calls are recorded, transcribed and then coded to create an overall review of why students "fail to appear."
This research includes 50 to 200 interviews with the population who failed to continue.
This information is then used to identify ways in which to reduce the "failure" rate, and increase student continuation.
Interact provides copies of the interviews, a coded database of responses, and a report with recommendations to reduce the failure rate.
• The college provides Interact with a list of "failed to appear" potential students and their phone numbers
• Interact randomly selects from this list of potential students (Privacy information is protected)
• Interact conducts up to 200 ten-minute phone interviews
• Qualitative information is transcribed, coded and cross-referenced to identify patterns in the reasons for their decisions
• Interact uses the information to generate a report recommending ways to reduce the "failure to appear" rate and increase student retention
50 non-appearing samples $8,500
200 non-appearing samples $22,000
